India v England led by Great Sporting Legend this Summer

We are delighted to announce that Asha Indian Kitchen, our new pop-up brand, will be taking to the field this summer in a charity cricket match against a side led by an England great!

The England legend is not a former international cricketer but ex Arsenal and England football captain, Tony Adams, who is a regular to curry kings, Asha. Every year Tony assembles a side to play Foyez Rahman and his Asha team, this year it will be for our nominated charity, Fareshare.

The charity network aims at relieving food poverty and reducing food waste in the UK, and became our chosen charity last year when we raised over £3,000 and the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic. This money enabled us to cook and deliver over 1,000 wholesome and nutritional meals to vulnerable adults and children across the region.

This year’s charity cricket event has been organised to raise yet more cash to enable our chefs to cook further meals and will take place on Sunday, August 15. And guess what? It will be open to the public to join us too!!

Tony’s teams in previous years has included his former England and Arsenal teammates Ian Wright and Lee Dixon, and last year contained Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen, in the limited over match.

Last year the former football pros team were beaten with two overs to spare and had set a target of 112 for the restaurant team.

Foyez Rahman who manages Asha Indian Kitchen is delighted to be locking horns with Tony once again out on the field and is preparing to host a full catering offer after the game, regardless of the result! The exact menu is yet to be decided but with the daily takeaway menu currently offering over 40 dishes across meat, fish and vegetable options and 25 side options, there will be plenty to work with.

‘Asha’ means ‘Hope’ and ‘Prospect’ and reflects the family legacy that we feel so passionate about at Relish. The Asha Indian Kitchen venture launched in January 2021 and was born out of a friendship between owner operator Andy Sampson of Somewhere Else, a bar in Castle Street, Cirencester and Foyez.  The two businesses naturally complimented each other, both being long established and highly regarded catering business with a similar ethos and passion, and so it seemed appropriate for Somewhere Else to be awarded the first location for this pop-up Asha brand.

With plans to tour around the Cotswolds, Asha India Kitchen could be popping up near you soon! The brand will also be developing and offering Wedding and other catering services in the near future so an exciting path lies ahead.
