Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Managing a busy kitchen including menu planning
  • Overseeing food preparation and monitoring the quality of finished dishes
  • Managing cost control by keeping detailed records and working with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns
  • Coordinating with management on supplying orders, budgeting, kitchen efficiency and staffing
  • Proving training of junior kitchen staff members including cooking and food preparation
  • Ensuring food safety and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness
  • Scheduling work for staff and providing guidance
  • Supervising all food prep and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a busy Indian/Bangladeshi kitchen as a chef
  • Knowledge and ability to run a section and work without close supervision
  • Positive and approachable manner
  • A friendly, authentic and passionate personality
  • Skill to produce good quality food in all sections
  • Good communication and team skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Awareness of manual handling techniques
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
  • Enthusiasm to develop personal skills and knowledge, and those of the team members
  • Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
  • Level 1 and 2 Food Safety Awards (Level 3 would be an advantage)
  • Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award is desirable
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Full driving license and own transport is desirable
