If you are reliable, quick thinking, a creative person then a job as a Chef de Partie may be the perfect job for you. Running a specific section in a kitchen, and reporting to the Sous Chef, this role needs someone who can work independently in a fast-paced environment and feel passionate about working with local produce.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality fresh food dishes within the speciality section
  • Assisting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in creating menu items, recipes and developing dishes
  • Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen and food safety standards, assisting with food hygiene practices
  • Manage stock control including clear labelling and stock rotation
  • Monitoring portion and waste control

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year’s relevant experience
  • Knowledge and ability to run a section and work without close supervision
  • Ability to manage Commis Chefs
  • Positive and approachable manner
  • Skill to produce good quality food in all sections
  • Experience of kitchen equipment, including dangerous equipment such as knives
  • Good communication and team skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Awareness of manual handling techniques
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
  • Enthusiasm to develop personal skills and knowledge, and those of the team members
  • Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
  • City & Guilds 706/1 | 706/2 Catering certificate or NVQ Level 2 qualification is preferable
  • Level 1 and 2 Food Safety Awards (Level 3 would be an advantage)
  • Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award is desirable
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Full driving license and own transport is desirable
