Reporting to the chefs, this role is varied and can be very rewarding, leading to many other roles within the hospitality sector. Many of our KP’s train and enter other more senior roles.

 

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Basic food preparation with training supplied
  • Washing up, cleaning and clearing all kitchen areas
  • Unloading and putting away deliveries
  • Emptying bins, sweeping and mopping floors
  • Ensuring all equipment is clean and put away correctly
  • Deep cleaning fridges and storerooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Basic food preparation skills such as vegetable preparation
  • Understanding of kitchen equipment
  • Importance of and ability to clean kitchen equipment and all kitchen areas/surfaces
  • Ability to prepare and clear food service
  • Knowledge of kitchen health & safety and food hygiene practices
  • Good communication skills and levels of numeracy
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
  • Positive and approachable manner with team player qualities
  • Awareness of manual handling techniques, chemical safety and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)
  • Experience of kitchen equipment, including dangerous equipment such as knives
  • Level 1 & 2 Food Safety Award is preferable but can be obtained on the job
