Tackling the Third Lockdown Head On!

The food business has changed shape completely to accommodate the lock-down lifestyle. Takeaways have exploded with so much more variety and quality and the days of treating just a Friday night as a take-out dinner choice have long been superseded by the expectation and anticipation of the options for food deliveries three or four nights a week. The frustration of going online to find that deliveries are only possible in cities and larger towns is also no longer the norm.

Here in the Cotswolds, Ciren Eats set the ball rolling for Cirencester during the first lockdown and have since been able to extend their reach for this second lockdown with our support. The Relish Group zippy scooter has enabled further reach to cover deliveries around the Cotswold Waterpark and surrounding villages for five of our locations.

Deliveroo style heat-retaining delivery packs can now be seen buzzing around the likes of South Cerney, Ashton Keynes, Cricklade, The Ampney’s, Oaksey, Latton, Somerford and Poole Keynes and the Cotswold Lakes, in addition to the 5km radius from the hub of Ciren Eats in Cirencester.

Here at the Relish Group, we’re operating a refreshed food and drinks menu operating from our sites at Jacks Tearoom & Kitchen, Relish Online, Somewhere Else, Pizzeria 720° @ The Gateway and Pit and Plate @ Waterside Kitchen and Bar. From Japanese cuisine, homemade pie and mash, brunch, designer pizza, packed burgers to Sunday roast with all the trimmings and everything in between, each of our venues are delighted to be able to continue to serve regular and loyal customers with their favourite dishes whilst introducing great quality, restaurant-style food to new customers.

Ben Thompson, founder and chef at Pit & Plate has been delighted at the prospect of having his rich Sunday Roasts, cooked over his fire pit, delivered to a wider customer base. Being a rustic catering company that travels the UK, Ben has had to rethink his target market during this third lockdown. His usual nomadic style of setting up and dismantling his kitchen around the UK has had to be swapped, for now, to a more permanent set up, but this does at least mean he’s able to treat those of us in the Cotswolds to his exquisite food in the form of a takeaway.

Meanwhile devoted fans of Sally’s Pussey’s Sunday Carveries can continue to enjoy their favourite roast from Royal Wootton Bassett by pre-ordering and collecting each week. The famous home-baked cakes and artisan coffees are perfect for collecting and enjoying along a stroll in Cirencester Park or perhaps you’d prefer a cheeky cocktail crated in the comfort of your own home using one of Somewhere Else’s new Cocktail making kits?
