Last Friday, we were delighted to welcome MP James Gray to Sally Pussey’s Inn and invited him to pour a parliamentary pint! It was our chance to showcase what our venue has managed to do both for the area and the industry during this last year.
In addition to servicing the NHS Food 4 Heroes at the start of the pandemic in 2020 and then linking up with Open Kitchen for another charitable cause, staff were then kept busy during various lockdowns providing Swindon and Royal Wootton Bassett with over 20,000 burgers.
Lockdown 3.0 saw the launch of Pussey’s Pizzas and was an instant hit with the customers! Using a stone-baked oven that cooks the large 12” pizza in just 90 seconds and reaches temperatures of 350-450 degrees, over 6,000 pizzas were sold and it remains an attraction to the site.
The outside bar served over 19,000 pints but now the venue is back open and is a testament to what the hospitality industry can achieve against adversity.
The venue can now hold safely, 180 customers, with added features including a doughnut bar to complement the food offering inside. It had to diversify to stay alive but with the loyal customer following that Sally Pussey’s affords, it proved to be no problem to achieve!
