Our new business partnership is proving to be a box office hit as we team up with Horizon Experiences from Swindon to offer open air cinema screenings this summer, beginning this weekend with the classic – Jaws.
The Cotswold Gateway Site at the Cotswold Water Park, South Cerney will be turned into Hollywood when the open air cinema screen is unveiled for the first film, the 1979 Spielberg classic, Jaws, on Friday on Friday 28 May. This will be followed by the Abba musical, Mamma Mia on Saturday and the Disney flick, Aladdin on Sunday May 30. Further screenings information will be released across the summer, Black Panther has been confirmed for Friday 4 June, with a full programme every weekend until the August Bank Holiday weekend.
People have suggested an open air cinema here before and now we can, thanks to Horizon Experiences, finally deliver this. It is the perfect start to the Bank Holiday weekend, great movies in a beautiful spot and for those early birds, you’ll be able to catch last orders from our wood-fired pizzas from Pizzeria 720, or tapas style sharing dishes from pop-up Tommy Streat Kitchen. Bar @ Lake 6 will be serving locally brewed Shandy, jugs of Pimms and draft beer too, so you’ll be set for the evening’s entertainment.
Horizon Experiences is a Swindon based company and since Covid has, like many businesses, had to diversify. As well as the usual hire of bell tents and home/garden cinema experiences, this new partnership has allowed Horizon the opportunity to develop a new side of the business. It’s also given rise to the opportunity to support MIND, the mental health charity who will have various onsite presence and we look forward to being able to raise some much needed funds for them.
Tickets are now on sale for the bank holiday weekend via EventBrite: just log onto the Gateway website and click on the Outdoor Cinema image on the homepage. Look forward to seeing you there!
